We believe in the supreme authority of the Bible as the Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Our belief is that the original books of the Bible, known as the 'Autographs', which God inspired in the original biblical languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, were free from error. However, none of the Autographs have survived. All of them have either been lost or destroyed.

What have survived are hundreds and even thousands of manuscripts, which are handwritten copies of copies of copies…of the original inspired Autographs. None of these manuscripts agree exactly, word for word with each other, but most of the differences are very minor in nature. God has preserved the original inspired writings, and it is amazing that most of these hand-written copies of manuscripts, written in the original bible languages of Hebrew and Greek, overwhelmingly agree with each other.

However, when these Hebrew and Greek manuscripts were translated into Latin and subsequently into other European languages, some very significant human translation and interpretation errors were introduced. These errors happened particularly with four age-related words, and as a result introduced contradictions in the understanding of the Word of God, which have given rise to the false doctrine of Eternal Torture in Hell. We explain and comment in detail on these errors in Chapter 5.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Author of the Bible and He is completely logical and does not contradict Himself. All contradictions found in any version of the Bible are due to man's translation or interpretation errors. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our guide, and He leads us into all truth. We are fully dependent upon Him to transcend all human translation and interpretation errors.
